Charta was originally conceived as a biennial festival dedicated to photobooks and independent publishing, based in Rome.

Across its editions, it created a space for exchange between artists, publishers, and institutions through exhibitions, talks, and editorial projects.

Today, Charta continues through the Charta award.

The Charta Award is an annual program dedicated to scouting and developing unpublished projects.
Each year, one project is developed and produced as a book by Yogurt Editions.
